Master Henry Cheng Seated Push Hands

Master Henry Cheng and his students at the Tai Chi Wellness Center demonstrates “Push Hands”. This exercise is used to train the student to be sensitive to opponent’s move so that he/she upsets the opponent’s balance. The emphasis is on using no force. You’ll see that Master Henry is in a seated position in this demo. Push Hands in the Tai Chi exercise that develops the practitioner’s sensitivity to force. Here we see Master Henry responding to attacks from a seated position. Push Hands” is part of the Self Defense classes on Wednesday evenings or Saturday mornings.

This is the first ever public demonstration by Tai Chi Wellness Center’s Master Henry Cheng. “Push Hands” is taught during the Self Defense courses at Tai Chi Wellness Center on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings.

Tai Chi Sword and Saber class is taught by Master Henry at Tai Chi Wellness Center. The practice of Tai Chi also entails use of weapons. Tai Chi Sword and Saber class is taught on Saturday mornings at Tai Chi Wellness Center.

Master Henry Cheng is a member of the IDEA Health & Fitness Association. He has developed a special curriculum, Tai Chi for Arthritis, in collaboration with the YMCA of San Diego County and the National Arthritis Foundation. He is presently working with SDSU on a research project to determine how Tai Chi affects bone density.
